The Navidad Valley CattleWomen (NVCW) are offering the first annual Elsie Farek Collegiate Scholarship. Applicants interested in being considered for this honor must be graduates of a high school in Lavaca, Fayette, or Colorado County or equivalent thereof. Additionally, they must be a junior, senior, or graduate student in a Texas college or university studying agriculture.
The winning applicants will be paid a one-time award of $1,500 to be used for tuition or other education-related expenses. The scholarship must be accepted in the year that it is won. Applications must be postmarked no later than December 31, 2025, and sent to Navidad Valley CattleWomen (P.O. Box 221, Schulenburg, TX 78956). There have been questions about the deadline. This deadline is for the collegiate scholarship only.
NVCW are also accepting scholarships from seniors graduating from high school. The scholarships for high school graduates are not due until March 6, 2026. Full details are available on the website.
The Navidad Valley CattleWomen, a local chapter of the Texas Cattlewomen, is a non-profit organization that supports and promotes the beef industry. The Navidad Valley local works to support local youth with scholarships and provide quality information on the industry and how to incorporate beef into a healthy diet.
