Beef For Fathers Day Essay Contest

Navidad Valley CattleWomen invite all Sixth grade Students to enter an Essay Contest to honor their Fathers/Father Figures for Father’s Day!

Prize:  Beef Gift Certificates

1st prize:  $60 beef gift certificate
2nd prize:  $50 beef gift certificate
3rd prize:  $40 beef gift certificate

Essay question:  What makes my dad or father figure so great and why he should be awarded a beef gift certificate?

Rules

  • Entrant must be in the 6th grade in Fayette, Lavaca or Colorado counties.
  • Essay must be no fewer than 50 words and no more than 250 words.
  • Essay must be postmarked no later than May 1, 2025.
  • Essay must be solely the work of the entrant.
  • To avoid disqualification, staple a cover sheet to your essay that includes your name, address, telephone number, and your father’s or father figure’s name.
  • If applicable include the name of your teacher who assigned the essay and your school name.

Judging

Essays will be judged on both style and content. Decisions of the judges are final. Winning essays will be selected by May 10, 2025 and winners will be contacted immediately. Presentation of certificates and a photo for press release will occur by May 20, 2025.

 

  • Please do not mail in duplicate entries. Essays will not be returned.
  • Winners and excerpts of their essays may be published in local newspapers.

Essays may be picked up at the school by a CattleWoman if a teacher chooses to use this as a class project and needs to turn in a quantity of essays.

This essay contest is conducted by the Navidad Valley CattleWomen, a local chapter of the Texas Cattlewomen, which is a non-profit organization that supports and promotes the beef industry.  The Navidad Valley local works to support local youth with scholarships and provide quality information on the industry and how to incorporate beef into a healthy diet.  Additionally, they work to support the community with targeted outreach projects that include a beefy twist.  Texas Cattlewomen function collectively to inform consumers of the importance of the industry and of the contributions it makes to the economy of our nation.  For more information on Navidad Valley CattleWomen please visit www.nvcw.org.
