The Agriculture Council of America announced March 18, 2025, will be National Agriculture Day with the theme of “Together We Grow.” The National Ag Day program encourages every American to:

  • Understand how food, fiber, and fuel products are produced.
  • Appreciate the role agriculture plays in providing safe, abundant, and affordable products.
  • Value the essential role of agriculture in maintaining a strong economy.
  • Acknowledge and consider career opportunities in the agriculture, food and fiber industry.

The industry needs scientists, biologists, food safety technicians, livestock nutrition specialists, arborists, conservationists – one doesn’t have to be a farmer or have a direct on-farm job to be involved in the agriculture industry.

The Navidad Valley CattleWomen, a local chapter of the Texas Cattlewomen, is a non-profit organization that supports and promotes the beef industry. The Navidad Valley local works to support local youth with scholarships and provide quality information on the industry and how to incorporate beef into a healthy diet. Additionally, they work to support the community with targeted outreach projects that include a beefy twist. One of their annual outreach activities involves donating frozen ground beef to the high schools in the tri-county area of Fayette, Colorado, and Lavaca counties that have culinary or food tech programs at their campuses. Members delivered 100 pounds of hamburger to benefit 392 students at 8 area high schools. Students also received information provided by the Texas Beef Council on Ground Beef Basics, Beef for Breakfast recipe cards, and Stock Your Protein Pantry guides. CattleWomen are honored to provide this hamburger to ensure that the students are provided the opportunity to utilize beef in their lessons.

For more information on Navidad Valley CattleWomen follow them on Facebook @nvcw.org.

The next gathering of CattleWomen will be a social at Majek’s Vineyard and Winery on Wednesday, March 26, beginning at 6 PM. This is a great opportunity for members to bring guests or for prospective members to come and learn more about the good works of CattleWomen in our tri-county area.
